as the only dedicated haitian food in the city of portland, portland mercado is excited to have helped jouk li jou launch thier business at taste of latin america in 2015. fast forward to today where they are in their second location and quickly expanding to offer the delicious caribbean flavors that mathilde aurelian-wilson learned to cook from her home country. you can expect to be greeted with warm smiles and fresh, delicious Haitian and Caribbean meals: Griots, bannann pesé, pikliz, goat, oxtail, beef stew and vegan/ veggie dishes.

mathilde aurelian-wilson and bruce wilson are partners in jouk li jou. mathilde develops the flavors and makes the decisions and bruce assists with all of the operational details. originally from st. croix, haiti, mathilde learned to cook living in many of the caribbean islands including cuba, dominican republic and her home country haiti. when not operating businesses, mathilde and bruce run a non-profit that supports haitians in education and core needs. they built a school that recently turned into a shelter due to the economic and environmental crisis.
