Gastronomy in el Distrito Federal (D.F.), Mexico's capital, is all about street food. In fact, we believe it to be one of the top cities in mexico and the world where you must eat food in the streets. Los Alambres torteria, named after one of mexico city’s signature dishes “el alambre” is one of the most iconic street foods from the city, not to mention it has bacon in it! In addition to offering their namesake, los alambres 2, here at the portland mercado plaza, is narrowing down their menu to focus on crafting large, delicious tortas (sandwiches) available in more flavors than one could try in a week -- but we dare you to take on the challenge!
meet the owners
Antonio Hernandez and his family immigrated to the united states from México city eight years ago to create opportunities for their family and especially their children. Since arrival, they have focused their entrepreneurial energy on opening los Alambres' food truck, currently located on SE Taylor and 82nd. Los Alambres is now opening a second location here at the Mercado, only it will be a owned and operated by the next generation of entrepreneurs: son Bryan Hernandez and partner / co-owner, Nancy Ivette Cruz. The whole family is glad to have this opportunity to bring el estilo D.F. culture and flavor to Portland and to pass along the entrepreneurial spirit of the family.
