Spirit of Entrepreneurship: Latinos in Oregon exhibition

  • Portland Mercado 7238 Southeast Foster Road Portland, OR, 97206 United States (map)

The exhibit is opening for viewing during normal business hours until the end of the year! 10am -- 9pm

"El Espiritu de Emprendedor", an exhibit highlighting Latino culture through entrepreneurship in our region will remain up through the year. The exhibition dates back to the 1800's, well before the census data recognized Latinos as a piece of the cultural and business landscape in Oregon.

Featured entrepreneurs include Lucy De Leon & family of Tortilleria y Tienda DeLeon's, Melanie Davis of El Hispanic News and Jesus Guillen of Guillen Family Wines. These entrepreneurs represent a growing population of Latinos who have led the way in shifting the conversation from employee to ownership, and from immigrant to Oregonian. This is our effort to recognize those stories and to imagine the business landscape of the future.

Gracias to Regional Arts and Culture Council and OnPoint Community Credit Union for supporting this exhibition. A solid acknowledgement to community photographer Nicole Freshley.
