Havana Station

El nombre de la estación de La Habana es una forma de honrar la patria de Ariel, La Habana, Cuba.

Después de llegar a Portland, Ariel se dio cuenta de que no había muchos lugares que ofrecieran la auténtica comida cubana que tanto extrañaba. Ariel se acercó a su difunta tía, Louisa Abreu, para obtener recetas sobre cómo hacer deliciosa comida cubana. Tia Louisa era la chef favorita de Ariel y ahora usa sus recetas en Havana Station como una forma de honrarla y agradecerle por ser una parte tan importante de su vida y pasión. La comida es muy importante para la familia de Ariel y la cocina y la cultura cubanas provienen de todo el mundo y nada es más cierto cuando tomas un bocado de las deliciosas comidas en Havana Station. Ariel destaca la receta de Tía Louisa de su plato popular, Ropa Vieja, como algo que tienes que probar durante tu visita a la Estación Habana. Ropa Vieja es un plato básico en la cocina cubana con variaciones regionales en América Latina, Filipinas y España. El plato normalmente consiste en un estofado de ternera y tomates con una base de sofrito.

Antes de encontrar su lugar en Portland Mercado, Havana Station estaba en un lugar en el centro de Portland, sin embargo, la pandemia obligó a cerrar su negocio. Pero el momento no podría haber sido más perfecto cuando Ariel se acercó al Mercado de Portland para traer su pasión cultural por la comida a este notable centro de la cocina latinoamericana, y cómo se siente tan orgulloso de ser parte de la comunidad que comparte comida. de toda latinoamerica y uniendo a la gente.

Hoy, Ariel puede decir con orgullo que está creando más representación en la ciudad y está contento de poder ofrecer un espacio donde puede llevar su comida a su gente y comunidad.

Ariel Cruzata está profundamente orgulloso de su hermosa cultura cubana y quiere compartirla con todos a través de su deliciosa comida. Hace once años, Ariel dejó todo y se fue de casa para venir a los EE. UU. con el fin de construir una vida mejor para él y su familia. Ariel emigró a los Estados Unidos con poco a su nombre y convirtió este nuevo capítulo de su vida en algo de lo que está muy orgulloso después de muchos años de llegar a fin de mes y navegar por las complejas implicaciones de ser un inmigrante en un nuevo país que enfrenta inseguridad financiera.

De regreso a su hogar en La Habana, Cuba, Ariel desarrolló una pasión por usar la música y la comida como una forma de construir una comunidad y unir a las personas y después de mucho trabajo arduo, pudo hacer de esa pasión un negocio para él y su familia y compartir la cultura que tanto ama con el resto del mundo junto a su amada familia.

Havana Station

The name Havana station is a way to honor Ariel’s homeland of Havana, Cuba. 

After arriving in Portland, Ariel realized that there weren’t many places that offered the authentic Cuban food that he missed dearly. Ariel reached out to his late Aunt, Louisa Abreu for recipes on how to make delicious Cuban food. Tia Louisa was Ariel’s favorite chef and now uses her recipes at Havana Station as a way to honor and thank her for being such an important part of his life and passion. Food is very important to Ariel’s family and Cuban cuisine and culture  comes from all over the world and nothing is truer when you take a bite of the many delicious meals at Havana Station. Ariel highlights Tia Louisa’s recipe for his popular dish, Ropa Vieja as something you have to try during your visit to Havana Station. Ropa Vieja  it is a staple dish in Cuban cuisine with regional variations in Latin America, Philippines, and Spain the dish is normally consists of a beef stew and tomatoes with a sofrito base

Before finding his place at the Portland Mercado, Havana Station was at a location in downtown Portland, however the pandemic forced his business to shut down. But timing couldn’t have been more perfect when Ariel reached out to the Portland Mercado to bring his culture passion for food to this noteworthy hub for Latin-American cuisine, and how he feels so proud to be apart of the community that is sharing food from all over latin America and bringing people together. 

Today, Ariel can proudly say that he is creating more representation in the city and is glad that he is able to offer a space where his is able to bring his food to his people and community. 

Meet the Owner

Ariel Cruzata is deeply proud of his beautiful Cuban culture and wants to share it with everyone through his delicious food. 

Eleven years ago Ariel dropped everything and left home to come to the U.S for the sake of building a better life for him and his family. Ariel immigrated to the United States with little to his name and turned this new chapter of his life into something he is very proud of after many years of making ends meet and navigating the complex implications of being an immigrant in a new country facing financial insecurity. 

Back home in Havana, Cuba Ariel developed a passion for using music and food as a way to build community and bring people together and after a lots of hard work, he was able to make that passion a business for him and his family and share the culture he loves so much with the rest of the world alongside his beloved family.
